FOSSIL公司創立於1984年美國德州，以手錶為主要產品線，並陸續拓展出飾品、皮件等廣受好評的產品。FOSSIL創牌靈感來自於50年代，當時對於美國人來說，正是二次世界大戰以後經濟復甦，人們心理重建達到最高點的時候。整個社會充滿著祥和與歡樂，每一個美國人的心中對未來充滿信心，人們感受到這個年代裡的分分秒秒都是一點一滴製造快樂的細胞，可說是美國人快樂指數的全盛時期。
一直以來，FOSSIL銷售的是商品傳達的精神，帶給使用者歡樂、 真實、 自然的感覺。“Modern Vintage”的概念為FOSSIL品牌的設計美學寫下嶄新的一頁，也為FOSSIL的產品與構思注入獨特的全新觀點！FOSSIL堅持，產品設計必須是：給人有熟悉感，同時又具有前衛性；是經典款式，而又符合當代的流行；看似簡單的設計，卻在細節中有精心的巧思。
Modern Vintage的設計理念，巧妙地融合了看似衝突的各種元素，並激發出FOSSIL商品設計的新火花。

FOSSIL BRAND
Fossil fuses inspiration from Mid-Century modern design with the contemporary tastes of today’s consumers. A term we define as “Modern Vintage.”
Modern Vintage is familiar, yet forward. Classic, yet contemporary. Simple, yet detailed. The concept of Modern Vintage design represents the defining aesthetic for the Fossil brand, infusing both our products and our imagery with a unique and relevant perspective. It’s the clean lines, soft shapes and natural materials that appeal to today’s consumers who appreciate simplicity, casual construction and authenticity. In its simplest form, it’s mixing the best of what’s old with the best of what’s new.
FOSSIL’S DESIGN is influenced particularly by the designers and architects of the early to mid 20th century. Charles and Ray Eames, George Nelson, Frank Lloyd Wright, Aero Saarinen and Arne Jacobson are especially inspirational to our design team. The aesthetics can be traced through all Fossil design, be it product or image. One can easily spot the use of wood on watches, as Eames experimented and crafted his plywood furniture. A handbag’s simple shape and clean lines bring to mind the beauty of George Nelson’s clocks and lamps. The simple shape of a necklace relies on organic form to provide a hidden level of detail. The end result of these points of inspiration is an aesthetic that is modern in its simplicity, organic in its form and rich in its attention to detail and balance.
